An installation of 70 upcycled plastic carrier bags, 4 rubber yellow submarine-shaped tea-balls, and monofilament wire, in a 4.11m x 4.11m space.
The carrier bags are meant to represent the memories one packs up – light but full. The yellow submarines should cause the viewer to think about the joys of change and new places.
The viewer is invited to ponder a portion of the Yellow Submarine lyrics:
And our friends are all aboard
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play
TCAEO reminds the viewer that next door can be anywhere, even an ocean or Great Lake away. So whenever a band plays, remember your friends near and far.
